Comparisonics Corporation is a software/Internet company specializing in advanced technologies for audio comparison, search, display, and monitoring. The company name signifies sound comparison: Comparison + sonics. The company created and operates FindSounds.com, the leading Web search engine for sound effects. Since its launch in 2000, FindSounds.com has processed more than 200 million sound searches for millions of Internet users. FindSounds Palette is the ultimate Windows program for finding sounds. Version 1.0 was released in 2002. The current version is Version 2.3, released in 2010. There are FindSounds Palette customers in more than 40 countries of the world. In 2010, the company launched FindSounds Mobile, the mobile version of FindSounds.com. In 2011, the company debuted its first cellphone app, FindSounds for Android, and released the Comparisonics Audio Editor, a free audio player, recorder, and editor for Windows. The company is a pioneer in sound matching, in which a computer algorithm measures the similarity of sounds. This unique technology is used in the company's software to search audio based on sonic similarity. Given any sound, similar sounds are located automatically. The company invented an audio waveform display that is colored to represent frequency content. This visualization lets you see the sounds and is featured prominently in the company's software. See articles for information about the company's technologies. The company licenses its technologies for selected applications; see the Comparisonics API for information. Comparisonics Corporation was founded in 1998 as a spin-off of Graham-Patten Systems, an audio mixer company which was itself a spin-off of the Grass Valley Group, a pioneering manufacturer of television broadcasting equipment.
